Yammer - Great if it's the only tool you use.
- It integrates into Office 365
- It provides company-wide connection on one platform
- It has mobile and desktop support
- It competes with tools present in other Office 365 products
- While integrated, it isn't intuitively accessible from multiple points in the ecosystem
- Other products achieve Yammer's outcomes in better ways
Yammer Review Recap
The ease of use affords users to keep their respective email inboxes a bit cleaner. Yammer has also been utilized as a social medium to keep users apprised of events and updates in other departments across the country.
- User interface.
- Ease of use.
- Adaptability.
- Lack of integration with other MS Office.
The user interface and quick and response.
It is not appropriate for detailed, in-depth conversations.
Microsoft Yammer - Social Networking for the Enterprise
- Providing a platform for social news in the company where "bottom up" topics can percolate freely across department
- Social networking across the company where folks can divide their work into topics instead of teams
- Basic collaboration within a group including document sharing with ability to pin documents to a team
- User experience in Yammer, while improving on mobile, has been stagnant for years - it's the same product since 2014
- Integration with the other O365 features - such as O365 groups - is completely lacking
- It competes with other Microsoft products (Microsoft Teams, Kaizala) for collaboration tools
As long as the size of the network inside of Yammer is managed - likely partitioning a large organization into business units, etc., - then Yammer provides an excellent platform for social news and "bottom up" collaboration across teams. Its free-form posting style, including articles and polls for interactive content, helps break down silos across the organization. Contrasted with the boring world of email, Yammer is a tantalizing world of pictures, GIFs, and videos.
At LiveTiles, we share company and team news via Yammer, enabling others to see the progress and milestones - from a new office to a new customer - without the heavy burden of a company newsletter or similarly curated content. Even though we have fully adopted Teams for day-to-day, intra-team communication, Yammer is still the gold standard for inter-team communication.
- Social tagging
- Organization of project ideas
- File sharing
- Seems less robust than Microsoft Teams
- One more communication tool to use
- Notifications don’t always work
Lots to Yammer on about
- Keeping employees connected across the enterprise
- The use of gifs and images
- Private message option
- I think the news feed should be updated chronologically, not by post "relevance" like many other social channels do now
I think it's best used for more casual announcements. I don't think it's appropriate to post something all employees NEED to see, like a fire drill announcement, because not everyone who needs to see it may see it.
It's still a struggle getting all our employees signed up for Yammer. While the process is easy, there was a lot of pushback because there are so many channels of communication in place already. We have maybe half of all employees on Yammer now. It's progress, but we may never have everyone signed up.
Good collaboration/communication/social media tool for your enterprise if you're up to it.
- Communication on Yammer is great.
- Being an enterprise social media tool, it is only valuable if you actually want that for your company.
- There is a learning curve for using Yammer. It is not as straight forward as I expected.
- I suspect when a lot of people use it, it can become hard to keep up on all of it.
It’s Yammer Time!
- Easy to navigate
- Fun to comment/interact
- Focused on uniting individuals
- Reactions instead of just likes.
- Track sub-threads more clearly.
- Yammer is modeled after the social-networking generation. The platform does a great job of being user-friendly with efficient communication.
- Yammer is extremely easy to use. End-user training should be relatively straight-forward.
- Very robust networking opportunities within an organization.
- As it is modeled after a social-networking tool, Yammer runs the risk of straying too far from a business productivity tool.
- Layout customization is rather limited. There are other tools that offer more company-customization more effectively.
- Sharing and editing documents have quite a few limitations. There are many other online editors that can do work more efficiently and effectively.
On the other hand, Yammer can potentially err too much on the side of a social networking tool. There can be instances where this tool can actually cause slower productivity amongst employees. One has to be more careful due to the 'facebook-like' nature of this tool. Therefore, it is extremely important to have moderators who can help guide discussions and keep people relatively on-task during business hours.
Yammer: far from a spammer
- User-friendly social media within the company
- Fosters the formation of communities across the company
- Easy to push out announcements without spamming inboxes
- Sometimes it is not easy to search for past posts
- Can be perceived as more for fun rather than corporate
Yet another "space" across the organization
Marketing, HR and some other departments are not into another "team messagers", so through Yammer all departments can be notified with a important / interesting information. Yammer provides an effective way of communication in both small and large groups of people at one time. It's kinda like a company's "Facebook"
- Office365 content is shared with others
- Communication across the whole organization
- Acccess to private content
- Outlook integration
- UI is old
- UX is not perfect
- Mobile app is not user friendly
Yappin on Yammer
- Sharing Office365 content with others
- Communicating with others in our group
- Communicating with the entire organization
- More powerful search/filtering would be nice
Yammer - Easy collaboration for large and small
- Organizing users into groups and providing tools to those groups
- Social networking with other users within the organization/network
- Excellent notification options (e-mail, etc)
- Clean, easy-to-understand user interface
- Can be difficult to get phone support if there are questions
- Some of the tools are not quite as feature-rich as competitor products
- Integration with Office 365 suite can be a little confusing because there is feature overlap (for example, Yammer vs Teams, or Yammer vs Sharepoint)
Yammer - Great communication tool
- Great Social media front page
- Messaging tool is great
- Great update features and keeping everything up to speed
- Can be an overload of updates, everything does pop and can be somewhat distracting if you are working and trying to be productive
- Better interface, not bad but does have the opportunity
The best social network to share jobs in the company
- It works to find solutions quickly to problems that arise in a project or work that is performed
- The people involved can comment and give opinions to projects and shared documents
- All the work team that is involved can be kept informed
- As it is very similar to the social networks that are currently used, it is very easy to use for all users
- It helps you reduce time in those meetings later and are not boring as the conversations are more interactive through Yammer
- Without an internet connection, you can not have interaction with other co-workers
- Only used if you have Office 365
- Many companies install it and do not use it because it seems unhelpful
- Very easy to use interface that allows nontechnical and technical users to communicate and collaborate.
- Breaks out team groups for sub threads very well.
- Allows for an effective interface to see recent updates from people you follow and or updates from groups you are in.
- It seems that Yammer and MS Teams could be integrated as both platforms overlap in many areas.
- Yammer seems to try to copy a lot of other social network platforms with buttons to like content. This seems irrelevant in the corporate world.
Reduces email load
- Safe, secure, social network for employees to share relevant content
- Declutter email
- A dedicated avenue with well understood tools (likes, comments, etc)
- One more feed to consume
- Needs to reach critical mass to be useful
- Only as good as its content
Weird Name, Great Tool!
- Content sharing (across all media types)
- User notifications and private messaging
- Group collaboration and social elements (likes, shares, conversation threads, etc.)
- Some of the GIF functionality is slow, but this is not a heavily used feature in our company.
- Discovering new groups or conversation threads can be a challenge unless you know exactly what you are looking for. "Browsing" can be difficult.
Review for Yammer
- It provides the functionality of creating groups and accessing private or publicly
- It provides access to private content
- It allows posting of media and content. Whoever has access to the posted content can like, share and comment on the post.
- Yammer could have a more fancy UI.
Yammer is OK for after work get togethers
- Very useful for selling items. I've listed lots of home goods.
- I had difficulty deleting posts after a sale was completed. The original picture and description still showed up in my personal feed. not sure if it was removed from the world at large or not, but it was a minor hassle just to wonder that.
Great collaboration tool
- Mobile app has great UX
- What's new feature is great to keep up
- Recommendations for relevant groups & call conversions
- Nothing I see as a problem
Yammer on Yammer
- The ability to more easily share and connect with colleagues.
- Being able to join select groups helps streamline communication.
- It was very user-friendly and felt like I could easily translate skills attained from Facebook to understand Yammer.
- Unfortunately, Yammer has been a bit of a distraction at work as it resembles the social media sites that have been blocked.
- My inbox gets clogged with notifications.
- Sometimes the group chats get off topic and it is hard to get back on track.
Interesting Platform for Project Sharing & Updating
- Project sharing and updates: status updates now can be shared easier and faster than ever. No more email writing and attachments with formal writings. It is now as easy as it is to update your Facebook status.
- Interactive platform: members across our organization can interact and share their updates regarding to a particular project or issue that has a high impact / effect on the organization.
- Alternative way to communicate: Our organization has an additional way to communicate in case email does not work as it should be. This will prevent any delay in communication.
- Looking for files that you have posted is harder and must be used with Microsoft Sharepoint.
- Mobile app is not friendly for new users; it has a complex interface that should not be there for a social app
- Email notifications from Yammer are annoying sometimes without clear instructions on how to turn that off
